Landing on the beach
| From
time to time the wind is so heavy that the two ferries - Samaria
and
Daskalogiannis - which sail along the southern coast from Sfakia to
Palaiochora, can not land at the small pier of Agia Roumeli.

| Instead
the two flat-bottomed ferries sail straight in to the beach - often to
great surprise for the bathers, which suddenly see a ship headed straight
towards them.
