Zoniana - Potamianos' wax museum

In 1998 Dionysis Potamianos opened his wax museum holding no less than 87 full-scale figures.

Even though Potamianos comes from Athens, it became one of his missions in life to represent the history of Crete through his wax figures, which have taken him 40 years to create.

The museum has moreover a large collection of various coins, bank notes and other means of payment, right from the Turkish period, through Kritiki Politeia (the Cretan autonomy) to the last drachmas, abolished in 2002.

Dionysis Potamianos likes to show his 1000 m2 big museum to the curious guest, telling vividly about the history of the island.
