The Avlaki Gorge |

From
Katholiko Monastery it is possible, with a little agility, to get down
into the Avlaki gorge, which leads out to the sea. Even though the gorge
is only about 1 km long, it offers many beautiful experiences of nature.

It is equally impressing to see the large bridge from below.

| At
the end of the gorge Katholiko Monastery - and later Gouvernetou Monastery
- had its harbour.

| Storehouses have not been necessary, as there is a large cave near the coast, where the monks have been able to keep their goods until further transport. |
|
||
|

To
the west of the gorge you se the old quarry, where stones were fetched for
the building of the two monasteries.
